<dc:description>Until 2013, the collection of Formicidae of the Entomological Collection Padre Jesus Santiago Moure of the Federal University of Paraná (DZUP) was represented by only four entomological drawers, with just under 600 specimens. After the arrilval of Dr. Rodrigo M. Feitosa in the Department of Zoology, the established agreements and the fieldwork of the Laboratory of Ant Systematics and Biology significantly increased the representativeness of the collection. The DZUP quickly became a reference institution for the deposit of material testimony of myrmecological studies in Brazil and abroad. It is worth mentioning the close relationship with the mythical collections of the Museum of Zoology of the University of São Paulo, which is curated by Dr. Carlos Roberto Ferreira Brandão and CEPLAC`s Laboratory of Mirmecology in Ilhéus, Bahia, whose curator is Dr. Jacques Delabie. Finally, the arrival of the renowned myrmecologist Dr. John Lattke to UFPR was also of great importance for the incorporation of material representative of ants collected in different regions of the world in the DZUP. Thus, the ants collection went from the initial four drawers and about 600 specimens to the current 110 drawers and about 23,000 copies, with continuous growth.</dc:description>
