The EVB herbarium began its activities in 2015, being named in honor of Evaldo Buttura, who was the botanist responsible for the collection in the areas of Itaipu Binacional, before the construction of the hydroelectric. The herbarium also houses collections of the micro region of Foz do Iguaçu, especially the Iguaçu National Park. It currently has more than 1800 registered exsiccates.
